Steve Talkowski

A veteran of the computer animation scene, I have worked as an Art Director, Animation Director, Character Designer/Modeler and Animator on hundreds of national brands ranging from Beats by Dre, BMW, Pepsi, General Mills, Target, Reese's and M&M's, to the feature films Joe's Apartment, Ice Age, Alien Resurrection and the 1998 Academy Award-winning short, Bunny, during a most productive stint as senior animator at Blue Sky Studios.

In 2008, I launched Sketchbot Studios and self-produced my first foray into the designer toy scene: the retro-styled, pencil-wielding robot, Sketchbot. In 2010, the Sketchbot platform served as the basis for two highly successful DIY custom shows held in NYC and LA.

Based in Los Angeles, CA, I design original characters for toy and branding properties, freelance on film and commercials, and keep developing my world of robots into an animated series. Since 2024 the studio's centre of gravity has moved to spatial computing: I'm shipping Quads, a modeling app for Apple Vision Pro, building immersive website environments, and offering professional spatial services to brands and studios.

The original TRON ignited my passion for computer animation when I first saw it at 16 in 1982. Forty-odd years later I'm building The Grid you can stand in. That feels about right.
